Financial profitability of the solar trackers
|
For the user, in the Walloon Region :
For the installations of small potency (lower than 10 kWc), the producer of green electricity has the right to make his meter turn upside down. When consumption is superior to production, there is a part of consummate of electricity coming from the electricity network and in that case, the meter turns upwards. On the contrary, when the production of electricity is superior to consumption, not consummate of electricity is injected into the electricity network and the meter turns upside down.
The quantity of electricity injected into the network compensates partly or totally the electricity taken from it. The energy produced by the photovoltaic system is valued at the purchase prices of electricity by a direct reduction on the electricity bill (with “the day price”).
Assistances, premiums and green certificates :
+ For the private individuals, the ministry of finance grants, for any photovoltaic installation of panels, a tax cut equal to 40% of the value of the works and with a maximum of 3440 € per year.
+ The regions taxes have devised a mechanism for obtaining financial aids for the production of green energy. For a quantity of generated green energy, the producer obtains a certain number of green certificates he can then resell to a supplier or a administrator of distribution network.
The use of a meter dedicated to the counting of produced green energy makes it possible to take benefit of the green certificates.
+ The Solwatt plan of the Walloon Region guarantees the redemption of the green certificates for the following 15 years after installation- at a price of 65€. But nowadays and for several years, the market price for the green certificate is around 90 €.
+ Certain villages and provinces give bonuses for the installation of photovoltaic systems, we encourage you to make a request to your administration.
The return on investment depends on your fiscal situation, on the surface of the installation envisaged, on the place of installation (therefore on technical pressures) etc …

Example of calculation :
Installation, by a private producer, of a solar tracker : type Ds 12 – on 2040 Wc
This tracker will have an annual production estimated at 2.040 x 850 x 140 % = 2427 Kwh
Let’s consider that the price of electricity increases by 5 % a year.
Price for an “all in” installation: 22 000 VAT included.
(Pay attention that this price is not contractual but indicative. It will depend on your fitter and on construction site conditions).
+ Fiscal reduction: 40 % of 22.000 = 8800 (restricted to-3440 €, if simple deduction …)
+ Bonus of the Walloon Region:-3500 €
+ Green certificates:
- annual production
- green certificates value at 90 € = 2.427 x 7 x 90 = 1529 €
- green certificates value at 65 € (guaranteed): 2.427 x 7 x 65 = 1104 €
+ Produced electricity (therefore not invoiced): 2427 x 0.18 € = 436 € the first year, then 457.8 €, then 480.7 €.
+ Maintenance expenses (in the worst case, let’s consider 1 hour of maintenance & the displacement cost = around 100 € / year - indexed in 5 %).
Amortizement / profitability :
With green certificates at 90 €
With green certificates at 65 €
As you can see, the return on investment is between 8 and 10 years for the individuals depending on whether we count on a market constant price of the green certificates or if we perform counting with guaranteed price.
After 8 or 10 years, the installation is absolutely amortized and continues paying more than 2000 € income per year, including the electricity you do not buy any more and the green certificates.
After 15 years, the green certificates stop but free electricity remains free (or almost).
A tracker De Simone is a long-term investment and no more a source of expenditure.
Let’s compare with a roofing installation (same potency), the investment amount is lower at first sight but the profitability is 40 % lower... On the long term, a tracker is more lucrative !
For the fitters
Expense of installation
We are aware that the trackers De Simone are not the cheapest if compared with prices only.
But they have numerous competitive advantages and quality :
+ Our trackers are delivered pre-assembled and regulated in our workshop for a maximum effectiveness on construction site of our customer. There remain only arms and panels to be taken up.
The trackers are no more delivered in kit in order to avoid full days of pre-assemblage. A 30 m ² tracker is installed in less than 8 hours by 2 formed technicians, including the assemblage of panels.
+ No option to be added, such as systems of security against the wind.
+ Our concrete foundation is simpler than foundations with drowned mast which require complex forms. Anchoring is delivered with the tracker, without supplement.
+ A lifting engine is only necessary for a little time.
+ No need for fixing the mast in the concrete.
+ The bringing into service is instantaneous: a simple linking 220v network is enough, starting process is automatic.
The total cost of an INSTALLED tracker is competitive !
