The photovoltaic components

The photovoltaic panels or photovoltaic modules :

First generation :

They are traditional mono or polycrystalline panels.
Those panels are composed of a multitude of cells linked up electrically between each other. Cells are placed on Tedlar, encapsulated by EVA, a transparent plastic, which is protected on the outer side by an extra clear glass structured or not. The whole is clamped in an aluminium outside frame to rigidify and fix the panel.

Photovoltaic panels can be linked in parallel or in series. It is better to place them in series in order to restrict important currents and their linked losses. The potency of a panel is expressed in crest Watt or peek Watt (cW or pW); which means the number of maximum watt a panel can issue under optimal hours of sunshine of 1000 W/m ² in 25°C. This value allows comparing panels between each other.
It is necessary to underline that the cooling of panels is important because produced potency falls when the panel temperature increases.

Second generation : slim coats

These technologies are already in trade but still have a nice margin of development. Their output rises between 5 and 11 %, less than the panels of first generation. It can be possible to make the "panels" flexible; like “membrane”.
Panels CIS are competitive with the panels of first generation.

Cells, of the 3rd generation based on multi junctions or concentrations of light are in a development stage.

Undulators

They allow transforming the direct current coming out of panels in alternating current. The produced alternating current can be directly used by the users or injected into the electricity network. This type of system connected to the network allows balancing consumption and production of energy of a house. Nowadays, that system is strongly supported by authorities.

The meter of green energy

It is a class 2 traditional meter. It precisely indicates the quantity of energy which is generated by the photovoltaic installation.

This counting is not necessary in itself but it allows justifying the green certificates which constitute financial helps to the production of photovoltaic energy.
